Eastdale Village tells a story…
In 1930 Otto and Henry Frank purchased a 200 acre farm on Dutchess Turnpike which would later be known as the Frank Brothers Farm. Henry Frank worked as a butcher in Poughkeepsie, the trade of their father, and had an interest in working as a cattle dealer. Otto Frank excelled as a mechanic.
The Frank Brothers became well known as both dairy farmers and meat processors. In later years they engaged in truck farming. At its largest extent, it was approximately 600 acres in size and encompassed lands on both sides of the Dutchess Turnpike.
By the middle of the 20th century the second generation of the Frank family was running the farm. In 1987 Walter Frank retired from farming and moved to Sarasota, Florida. Remaining brothers Otto and Henry Frank “decided it was time to retire and sell the Frank Brothers Farm” in 1988.
The Frank Brothers retained the ownership of the c. 1822 farmhouse for over eighty years until the house was purchased on 2013.
Otto Frank continues to live in the house built in 1935-1938.
